Cori of the Well Beauty Blog - JORD Blog

CORI: At the time, there weren't a lot of blogs that talked about natural beauty, health, and eco-friendly living. Because I think all 3 are important and intertwined, I wanted to create a space that people could visit to learn about all 3.
JORD: How has the Well Beauty Blog evolved since it first began? What are your hopes for it in the future?
CORI: My blog has definitely evolved over the past couple of years. What I write about has changed as my interests have changed. Within the past year or so I have become more interested in eco-friendly clothing and accessories, so have blogged more about those. When I develop a new interest, such as meditation or DIY beauty, I like to blog about it and share what I have learned with others.
My hope is that I continue blogging! haha My schedule is so busy with getting a PhD, just finding time to blog is my challenge right now :o)
JORD: What’s your daily routine in relation to beauty? What process and products are responsible for that healthy glow?
CORI: Which products I use tend to change about every 6-8 weeks or so as I try different brands. One thing I have found that works for my skin is to keep a basic routine. I don't use a lot of different products at once, I will stick to one face cleanser, one moisturizer and one toner. I only exfoliate once a week or so and only use a mask once a week or so. Using too many different products all at once tends to irritate my skin, so I keep it basic and it keeps my skin happy.
As far as what is responsible for keeping my skin healthy, I only use products that are full of effective, good-for-skin ingredients. I look at the ingredients list of each product I use and I look for moisturizing oils, antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. If these ingredients are far down the list and the first several ingredients are water, fillers and/or emollients, then I don't waste my skin's time by using it.
JORD: You’re back in school to get your PhD in nutrition (WOW – and congratulations) but, if you were to create a green product line what would you focus on? Moisturizers, Makeup, Nail Polish, Hair Care?
CORI: Thank you! Wouldn’t that be a dream to start a green product line? I do think about it from time to time but the truth is, there are so many great ones out there, I don’t think I could add something to the market that hasn’t been done already! If I did have to choose one, it would probably be skin care. Skin care products are my favorite of all the different types of beauty, so I would probably start there.

We trust this face. We would buy ALL of her makeup products.
JORD: What is the one tip you would give someone who is looking to green up the products they buy on a daily basis. Should they focus on personal care products, cleaning products? What ingredients should they be wary of?
CORI: My one tip would be to transition slowly. I think many people try to do too much at once and end up frustrated or overwhelmed. As you run out of a certain product, be it a moisturizer, lipstick or kitchen cleaner, replace it with a natural/eco-friendly one. Do research online ahead of time to see what brands are good for what you are looking for and which specific products might be good for you, and then replace your traditional product with a green one. Over a year or so, all of your products will be green and it will hopefully be a stress-free process! You will have probably learned a lot along the way as well as you will have done research on all of the new products, which I have found is always a learning experience.
JORD: What do you waste your time doing?
CORI: Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of extra time to waste! If I really need to veg out and just not think for awhile, I like to put on a movie and play some Candy Crush. It’s my guilty pleasure ;o)
JORD: What do you wish you had more time for?
CORI: Oh, pretty much everything! But I do wish I had more time to read for fun. Most of my reading is for school, and I do miss curling up with a great book and spending afternoons reading.
JORD: What should humanity – as a whole – spend more time doing?
CORI: Practicing compassion. Compassion for each other, compassion for animals, and compassion for our earth. I think the world would be a much nicer place if people practiced compassion and thought about how their actions and words affected others.
JORD: This person inspires you – who is the first person that’s popped into your head?
CORD: My best friend Tammy was the first person to pop into my head. She is courageous, loving and quick to laugh. She truly is an inspiration.
These are not photos of Tammy. These are Cori’s beloved pugs.
JORD: If you were rich enough for just one luxury – what would it be?
CORI: Daily massages! My muscles can get very tight and knotted, and massages are a special treat for me. I always feel so relaxed after a massage. Being able to get regular massages would be a dream come true.
Thank you again to Cori for her time – which she has very little of! But she’s using it wisely – that’s what matters. When you’re looking for your next green beauty fix be sure to check out Well Beauty Blog for all things wonderful and pugs.
Till next time!
