The first two months have been busy, exciting, and fun to say the least. As we edge past the holiday season and into the New Year, the JORD Wood Watch Team is more than ready for what 2014 will bring. Amazing and helpful feedback from all over the world has given our team not only a better understanding of what designs are currently liked but also what our fans would like to see in our evolving wood watch collection.

Who We Are Sponsoring

Just over a week ago, a member of the JORD Wood Watch Team (Salman Shah) and a fellow St. Louisan (John Karl) qualified for the Red Bull Crashed Ice event to be held in St. Paul Minnesota. For those of you who are unaware of the sport, the video below from last year's event will give you a brief understanding of what RBCI is all about.

What Is Red Bull Crashed Ice

Take some of the best and toughest skaters in the world, a sizzling atmosphere, stunning surrounding, tons of steel, a huge cooling system and thousands of square meters of frozen water. The result, Red Bull Crashed Ice! Since the first-ever race back in 2001, Red Bull Crashed Ice has developed into one of the world's most breathtaking winter sports events. Riders hurtle down courses up to 600 meters in length in groups of four, shoulder to shoulder, as they fight it out for victory. The whole race is held on a steep downhill track dotted with chicanes, jumps and rollers. Pushing, sliding and sprinting are all on the agenda as the athlete's race down the course, but the rules are very simple: first to the bottom wins.

JORD Supporting Athletes

JORD Wood Watches will be a proud sponsor of both Salman & John as they embark on their journey to St. Paul. Salman has participated in Red Bull Crashed Ice St. Paul for the past three years. John also participated in the 2013 event in St. Paul and is ready for this year's event. "I'm excited to have another chance to race. I think the experience from last year will give me that extra edge to do better. With better conditioning, I'll have a good chance of going farther. Can't wait to see this year's track," said John this past week during the sponsor interview. Both athletes studied and played Division 2 ACHA hockey at Missouri State University and have been on the ice skating since their youth.


"No matter how much you have skated, where you play or have played, who you played with, or what league you played in, the Red Bull Crashed Ice Series will make a hockey player look like they have never skated before," said Salman after the St. Louis qualifier at Ice Zone in Hazelwood, Missouri. The event has become iconic with over 100k+ fans screaming at the top of their lungs in front of an amazing backdrop of the St. Paul Cathedral to watch athletes risk it all in hopes of making it down in one piece before all other racers.

Both athletes will be training in the St. Louis area leading up to the February 22, 2014 event in St. Paul, Minnesota.
