Never Off The Clock - JORD Blog
A note from Salman, our Chief Branding Officer, talking about his complete inability to unplug.

Point Ybel Light on Sanibel Island
This past July I jetted down to Florida to participate in a NARCh event. I’m always looking for ways to double dip on travel so I asked my girlfriend Stefi if she would make the trip with me so I wouldn’t be sadly strolling on the beaches by myself when not playing in the tournament. She agreed and we headed down with our bags packed for an ocean vacation.
Think of how sad I would have looked had this been a solo stroll; ultimate heartbreaker.
Now, typically when people go on vacation they are thinking dreamy, vacationy thoughts the whole time. Some examples:
“How long of a nap should I take?”
“Should I have just fries for lunch, or add ice cream for balance?”
“Why don’t I live closer to the beach?” (for those of us in the land-locked Midwest)
“I wish I had gone to school for professional deep sea treasure diving.”
“I’m going to travel more. I’m going to always travel.”
Admittedly, these were a part of my internal narrative for past vacations, but ever since we started JORD, the majority of my thoughts, on vacation or otherwise relate back to our watches.
Some examples:
“I wonder if we can make a face that looks like beach sand?”
“What if we used drift wood in one of our designs?”
“How can we make a waterproof wood watch?”
“What color wood best compliments a sunburn? ”
“We should make travel mandatory for JORD employees.”
So, I’m obsessed. In past positions, if I obsessed over my job while on vacation it wasn’t for good reasons. I was either stressed out, concerned about, or dreading something that I had left, was not attending to, or had to return to after the vacation was over. I never fully immersed into vacation mode. I can’t believe that I now have one of those mythical jobs where you love what you do. I have landed the unicorn of employment.
I think Stefi and JORD make a really good-looking couple.
Even though JORD is on my mind like Georgia, I’m also simultaneously more aware and appreciative of what’s happening in my sphere. Not worrying about work allows me to have a more open and positive outlook on everything going on around and surrounding me.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that; though I don’t mind getting out of the office, I don’t see myself clocking out of the world of JORD anytime soon.
Stefi and I had a great time while down in Florida. Had I been stressing out about work rather than being inspired by it, I don't know if Stefi would continue vacationing with me! I hope you’re all taking the time to get out and explore a little corner of the world yourself. Don't forget to send us pictures of you and your JORD out in the wild; we're always looking for new places to travel to and be inspired by! Till next time...
